Leg Pain

LEG PAIN COULD BE A SERIOUS SYMPTOM - DON'T IGNORE IT
Do you have leg pain? Dull aches in the calves? Cold feet? These could all be symptoms of a serious condition. Each year, 11% of U.S. adults suffer with chronic, daily pain but only a fraction of them seek a doctor’s diagnosis for it. With leg pain, ignoring this early symptom could be a huge mistake.

Overview

Leg pain can occur in any part of the leg, whether that be the foot, ankle, knee, thigh, etc. It may occur in one or both legs, only at night, only while lying down, while running or exercising, etc. The specific cause and location of pain varies depending on the case. Leg pain is extremely common and often overlooked, but it may also be a hint that you have a more severe condition such as PAD or CVI. You should absolutely consider seeing a vascular specialist.

Causes

Leg pain is commonly caused by minor injuries or overuse, often easing with rest. It may also be a result of a temporary condition like cramping. But in some cases, it may be caused my certain serious medical conditions that require treatment. If you are experiencing leg pain often and are unable to see it being from overuse or injury, you may want to consider getting an opinion from a medical provider to see if something more serious is 

Preventing Leg Pain

While eliminating leg pain altogether is nearly impossible, there are some steps you can take to try and prevent some common causes and medical conditions that will lead to leg pain later on...

Doing aerobic exercise 30 mins/day, 5 days/week.

Stretch before exercising and avoid standing for long periods of time

Avoid smoking and excessive alcohol consumption.

Maintain a healthy weight, blood pressure, and cholesterol level

Stay well hydrated
